The Scotia Permanent Fireman’s Association, IAFF Local 842, is an organization of career firefighters who serve the Village of Scotia and Glenville Fire District 4. Our twelve members have been certified as New York State professional firefighters. In addition, career members serve as Advanced Life Support providers, Code Enforcement/Compliance Technicians, and Hazmat Technicians. Career firefighters are divided into four shifts, consisting of three members each, and are scheduled to provide around the clock coverage for the Village of Scotia and Glenville Fire District 4.
Each year The Scotia Permanent Fireman’s Association, IAFF Local 842, participates in a number of charitable outreach programs. Annual events include our Muscular Dystrophy Association Boot Drive, United States Marine Corps. Toys for Tots Drive, October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Memorial Day chicken barbeque to benefit local charities.
To maintain our high level of readiness, firefighters are required to complete a wide variety of training each year; to include one hundred hours of various firematic training, twenty-four hours of advanced life support continuing medical education, and between six to twenty-four hours of code compliance and enforcement updates.
